— and lobby on the steps of the Capitol and meet with lawmakers. So TikTok has this army of lobbyists that’s suddenly scrambling. This morning, House lawmakers have agreed unanimously to move a bill to a full floor vote. TikTok has pushed back really forcefully against these accusations. They said that Gallup polls show that young people view Israel differently than older generations. They say that they’re not the ones influencing what people post, that the hashtags and the videos are a reflection of the user base and nothing that they’re doing to influence.

Still, Eisner himself, never picked up an instrument, and was instead more involved in competitive swimming, which eventually guaranteed his admission to the University of Maryland in 1966. Without really trying, he found himself yet again around music and musicians during his time as a student. Where can you see folk and Americana legends like Janis Ian, Loudon Wainwright III and Tom Rush? The answer, always, is Santa Monica’s McCabe’s Guitar Shop, the little shop that could. McCabe’s is a must for anyone interested in American acoustic music in the grounded tradition of folk. Go any night to see whomever is playing—you’ll feel a sense of communion with a tradition that’s at the root of a lot of later music.
5th St. Bob Egan’s Pop Spots has all the information you need to replicate the iconic Henry Diltz photo sessions. Tell us about other venues where the performer will appear around the date of any proposed IMT show. Note that IMT usually requires that performers not book shows within sixty miles of the IMT venue for 30 days before or after an IMT show without prior approval. Submissions should be for traditional folk music or for music with roots in folk music.
Why Los Angeles is still the Ultimate Destination for Setjetters
“George was instrumental,” says Danny Rampling, who has turned up to see the plaque at the location of Shoom, a club he ran from 1987 to 1990. This Bud’s for YouOver in Culver City, well-dressed “budtenders” take you through the offerings at the High Note, a music-inspired dispensary where strains take on a whole new meaning. Designed like a Prohibition-era speakeasy that includes hidden doors, the space offers an assortment of flower, pens, edibles, and accessories, along with curated playlists that help customers pair their cannabis with budtender-approved soundtracks. One of the few independent venues remaining in L.A.’s music scene, the Paramount also houses a pizza parlor on the first floor, providing a feast for the ears — and food for the soul. Yes, there’s the traffic, which can make “taking the scenic route” feel like walking the plank, but it seems L.A. Is finally feeling like one big (cohesive) city again, with an eclectic mix of artists and venues bringing everyone together for a good time.
There is always the possibility of hidden and unforeseen issues that will present themselves only in the course of repairs and need to be dealt with at additional cost. We will do cosmetic work only in combination with complete functional repair. This does not mean returning it to new condition, but doing that which is reasonable, considering the nature and history of the instrument, and doing all work properly and to the highest standards. It may be a worthwhile and laudable project to conserve such an instrument for the enjoyment of future generations.
Retouching work is difficult to price, and estimates are subject to change. We specialize in retouching of original finishes, especially older varnish finishes, but lacquer as well, a skill that relatively few repair persons master, and we pride ourselves on our ability to do an artistic job. Replace/restore missing, cracked or disintegrating binding. Marc's pickup/dropoff schedule with us varies (his home shop is a good distance away), but on average is once every two weeks. If you have a restricted time frame for your repair job, please contact us in advance to discuss time frame.

And so they’re trying to make it as rock solid as possible so that they can win in court when TikTok challenges this law. And so March rolls around, and they decide that it’s time to unveil this bill that they’ve been working on for close to a year. But it’s never been able to shake these concerns around the fact that it has really close ties to China. And lawmakers, for years, have been worried that the Chinese government could somehow use ByteDance and TikTok to get information on Americans or possibly spread propaganda. What this law really does is it puts the future of this hugely popular app with 170 million American users into question.

For emerging indie acts, it’s worth seeing who’s on the bill at Teragram Ballroom in Westlake, Hi Hat in Highland Park, Silver Lake’s The Satellite, The Echo in Echo Park and The Hotel Café or Three Clubs in Hollywood. On the face of things, Canter’s is a landmark deli where folks come to chow down on delectable pastrami sandwiches before hitting up a music, theater or comedy show at one of the many nearby venues. Yet this Jewish-style delicatessen also represents a key piece of rock history. Its current Fairfax Avenue location, opened in 1953, quickly became a hangout for entertainment industry leaders, and has remained a favorite with rock musicians to the present day.
Before becoming a professional World multi-instrumentalist and instrument repair person, Mr. Duvel referred to himself as a mobile psychotherapist philosopher – and drove a cab! He has spent decades in the pursuit of a diverse range of musical knowledge and disciplines, musical cultures and world instruments from every corner of the globe.
So it’s very clear that TikTok plans to challenge this law in court. And the court fight to follow will determine the fate of TikTok’s future in the US. And I mean, it’s an interesting thing that ByteDance and TikTok have to grapple with.
TikTok has reshaped the way many people listen to music. So Sapna, tell me about this law that just passed that potentially bans the social media app TikTok. We’ve seen efforts in the past to rein in TikTok, but this one really seems like the most substantial yet.
